Poetry Out Loud

There are openings for students who wish to compete at the Kansas regional Poetry Out Loud contests without having competed at a school level. Only one student per school will be allowed to compete at the regional level.

There is much organization and work that occurs before each regional contest. To ensure fidelity and commitment of the single contestants, students will be required to submit a video to their regional coordinator of themselves reciting one of their poem selections.

Students must first register by the deadline via the link below. They will then be contacted by their regional coordinator with instructions on how to submit their video entry.

At-Large registration is Dec. 20. Upon receipt of the video submission, students will be notified in a timely manner as to if they will be one of the 12 students competing at the regional.

Registration deadline for this round of registrations is Dec. 20,2018

Deadline to register: Dec. 20, 2018

How Do I Get Involved?

High school teachers interested in having their classes participate register by completing School/Teacher Registration Form by Nov. 20, 2018. Once you are registered, your Regional Coordinator will inform you of deadlines and date competition. Winners of the regional competitions are invited to compete in the State Finals in Salina, Kansas March 2, 2019.

Students interested in vying for “at-large” regional competition positions, please have a sponsoring teacher submit the School/Teacher registration form by Nov. 20. Schools that hold competitions will receive the first registrations. Students who register from schools where they are the only contestant will fill the remaining open positions. Singleton registrations will be accepted on case by case basis.
