Registration is now open for the Rural Opportunities Conference, which will be held April 14-15 in Newton. The deadline to register to attend the conference is April 6.
WHAT: The Rural Opportunities Conference will highlight rural business and community development topics. General sessions will include:
• Ted Lee Eubanks, president and founder of Fermata Inc., will discuss how to market a community.
• Kansas Water Office Director Tracy Streeter and Lynne Hinrichsen, agribusiness development director for the Kansas Department of Agriculture, will discuss the next steps for the 50-Year Statewide Water Plan.
• A panel of Humboldt community leaders will present the story of how their community has embraced addressing its needs. Speakers will include Ron Wilson, director of the Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development; Cole Herder, Humboldt city administrator; Chris Bauer, president of the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce; Humboldt City Councilwoman Sunny Shreeve; and K.B. Criss, superintendent of schools, Humboldt USD 258.
Breakout sessions will focus on topics including marketing, workforce, angel capital, health, public buildings and succession planning.

WHERE/WHEN: The Rural Opportunities Conference will be held April 14-15 at the Meridian Center, 1420 East Broadway Court, Newton, KS 67114. Registration and exhibits open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14.
