Team Kansas and the Kansas Department of Commerce have announced CivicPlus of Manhattan as the winner of the 2016 Governor’s Award of Excellence, the top award given to a business by the state. The Department and the Kansas International Trade Coordinating Council have also announced GT Manufacturing as the winner of the 2016 Governor’s Exporter of the Year award.
“The Department of Commerce congratulates CivicPlus and GT Manufacturing for their outstanding achievements,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Antonio Soave. “Both companies play integral roles in improving the economy and quality of life in their communities and our state, and I’m thrilled that we have a chance to recognize their success.”
CivicPlus provides integrated software solutions to more than 2,200 local governments including municipalities, townships and counties. Since 2011, Inc. Magazine has included CivicPlus on its list of fastest-growing privately held companies in the U.S. CivicPlus provides tailored websites, HR software, emergency notification systems, mobile applications, secure hosting and professional services.
GT Manufacturing has manufactured grain dryers in Clay Center since 1953. The company currently has products in 81 countries worldwide, and was recognized for its success in exporting by the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2014.
The Kansas Department of Commerce uses June as Business Appreciation Month for its annual celebration of Kansas businesses and the contributions made to their communities and the state economy. This year, 89 businesses were nominated as part of the Business Appreciation Month program, including 63 Merit Award winners and 26 Regional Business Excellence Award winners. CivicPlus and GT Manufacturing received their awards at the June 22 Team Kansas Awards Banquet in Topeka.
