The winners of the Governor’s Award of Excellence and Exporter of the Year Award will be revealed on June 29 in El Dorado. The awards are part of the Business Appreciation Month, the Kansas Department of Commerce’s annual celebration of Kansas businesses and their contributions to their communities and the state economy.
WHAT: Kansas Cavalry Encampment meeting, where the winners of the Governor’s Award of Excellence and Exporter of the Year Awards will be announced. Additional awards to be presented include the Kansas Business Hall of Fame Awards (the Contemporary and Historical Heritage award winners).
WHEN/WHERE: Program begins at 6:45 p.m. in the Hubbard Welcome Center, Butler County Community College, 901 S. Haverhill Road, El Dorado, Kan. 67042.
WHO: Gov. Sam Brownback will present the main awards. University of Kansas graduate and Ford Motor Co. President and CEO Alan Mulally also will attend. Receiving the Historical Heritage Award will be Joseph G. McCoy (1837-1915), Kansas cattle trade pioneer.
AWARD FINALISTS: Award of Excellence Finalists: Community HealthCare System (Onaga); Rooks County Health Center (Plainville); Mid Kansas Coop Association (Moundridge); AuBurn Pharmacy Inc. (Garnett); and Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center (Chanute). The Award of Excellence is sponsored by the Department and the Kansas Cavalry.
Exporter of the Year Finalists: Bio-Microbics (Shawnee); Bunting Magnetics (Newton); Premier Pneumatics (Salina); ICE Corp. (Manhattan); and KASA Industrial Controls (Salina). The Exporter of the Year Award is sponsored by the Department and the Kansas International Trade Coordinating Council.
