API Foils headquarters plans move to Lawrence

API Foils announced today that its Americas headquarters will relocate from New Jersey to Lawrence. The move, which will be complete by June 2012, reinforces API’s presence in Lawrence with the creation of 17 new jobs.

API is a leading manufacturer of hot stamping foils for the packaging, printing and embossing industries. Its products are used for decorative and security packaging materials in a wide range of applications.

“We are extremely pleased to renew and expand our commitment to Kansas and the Lawrence area,” said Brad Mueller, president and general manager, API Foils Americas. “The Kansas business-friendly environment is very refreshing. The skill and dedication of our workforce, the attractive cost profile, coupled with its central geographic location, make Lawrence an ideal location for our continued growth.”

“The state of Kansas is excited to welcome the API Foils headquarters to Lawrence,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “Lawrence should be proud of its efforts in providing a great business environment and dedicated workforce for the company. I’m pleased we can add API Foils to the list of those businesses that call Kansas home.”

API Foils first came to Lawrence in 1995, expanding in 2003 when it relocated a distribution and processing facility from Lenexa to its site in the East Hills Business Park. More than 52 employees currently work at API Foils manufacturing decorating metallic foils for use in graphics applications to enhance the visual brand appeal of products.

“The decision by API Foils to relocate their headquarters to Lawrence is great news for our local community and the local economy,” said Mayor Aron Cromwell. “Lawrence is a wonderful community, with many amenities, and we are pleased that API Foils chose to expand their existing operations here. I welcome their staff, and their families to Lawrence, and look forward to building future relationships with API Foils.”

“API has been part of our community for more than 16 years. The decision to expand its presence in Lawrence is a demonstration of its strong commitment to its employees and to this community,” said Beth Johnson, Vice President of Economic Development for the Chamber of Commerce. “They are investing in our community by choosing to expand their operations in Lawrence. We look forward to working with Brad and the entire API team for many years.”
