Archer Foundation selects site for headquarters, business incubator

The Archer Foundation announced today the permanent location for its headquarters in Leawood’s Park Place development. In partnership with Clockwork Architecture + Design and Spaces Inc., the Archer Foundation and its affiliate Archer Capital will develop a state-of-the-art facility that fosters community service, educational opportunities and entrepreneurial achievement in Kansas.

“The Archer Foundation is excited to build an environment at Park Place where ideas will be born, connections will be made and value will be created for the Kansas City community,” said Jon Darbyshire, executive chairman for the Archer Foundation. “We selected Park Place because of its excellent management, location and amenities.

Our goal is to create an ‘office of the future’ in Park Place where entrepreneurs and volunteers can focus on pursuing opportunities rather than struggling for resources and infrastructure. By investing in this office space, the Archer Foundation is making a long-term commitment to improving lives in Kansas and growing our economy.”

The Foundation’s new office space will house a core team of volunteers and staff focused on advancing community service programs, connecting students with educational opportunities, and promoting women’s initiatives. The facility will also house a business incubator for startups in the technology space.

Incubator companies will have access to cutting-edge technology, collaborative workspace, and mentorship in the areas of product strategy, operations, sales, marketing and executive leadership.

“This is certainly great news for Leawood, the state of Kansas and the Kansas City area,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “The Archer Foundation is involved in many business and community development endeavors. The business incubator is going to offer several nice advantages, by way of the latest technology and mentoring services. I look forward to watching the Foundation nurture many successful startup companies in the future.”

The Archer Foundation and its affiliate Archer Capital have signed an 8-year lease for approximately 14,500 square feet of space at Park Place. The two organizations will occupy the entire second floor of a building currently under construction.

They expect to occupy the space in mid-summer 2012. Kessinger/Hunter & Co. served as the tenant’s real estate broker.

“We look forward to the addition of Archer Foundation to Park Place,” said Melanie Mann, co-developer for Park Place Partners LLC. “Their values and vision are a great complement to our commitment to community and innovation.”
