Older Worker Awards ceremony to be held April 9 in Topeka

The Kansas Department of Commerce and the Older Worker Task Force will host the 16th annual Older Worker Awards ceremony on April 9 in Marvin Auditorium at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.

This event honors older workers who continue to play a very important role in the Kansas workforce and economy, as well as their employers. Honorees were selected from an applicant pool that included workers age 55 and older who are employed in both public and private sector jobs, and businesses and companies that regularly employ workers age 55 and older.

“Honoring the contributions of older workers to our state’s employers and economy is important,” Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George said. “Older workers who remain in the labor force possess talents and experience that help Kansas businesses grow our economy. It’s also important to honor employers that recognize the value of older workers by creating supportive and welcoming environments for them.”
