Gov. Brownback to lead Kansas delegation to the 2013 International Paris Air Show

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and Commerce Secretary Pat George will lead a state delegation to the 2013 International Paris Air Show from June 17-23 in France. The state delegation will be joined by representatives from the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition (GWEDC) and several Kansas-based businesses active in aviation.

“We have done a lot during the last two years to greatly improve the business and tax climate in Kansas,” Gov. Brownback said. “With our improved business environment, skilled workforce and strong economic development tools, Kansas is an attractive place for aviation and aviation-related companies to expand.”

In addition, the delegation and GWEDC will help Kansas companies increase their exposure to international markets. Exporting in Kansas increased to $11.66 billion in 2012, and the largest sector, aircraft sales, had $2.07 billion in exports.

Nearly 40% of the world’s general aviation production occurs in Kansas. More than 30,000 workers are employed in aviation manufacturing in Kansas, and the state is home to more than 200 suppliers to the industry.

Brownback’s public schedule follows (Paris times):

7 p.m., Monday, June 17 – Brownback to attend the Aerospace Industry Association (AIA)-U.S. Embassy reception hosted by U.S. Ambassador Charles Rivkin. The AIA represents many of the larger U.S. aerospace firms, as well as smaller suppliers.

3-4 p.m., Tuesday, June 18 – Brownback will host a reception at the Kansas Pavilion, located in Hall 3, Stand B79. The following companies will be exhibiting at the pavilion:

• CE Machine, Wichita
• Exacta Aerospace, Wichita
• Aerobind, Wichita
• Apex Engineering International LLC, Wichita
• Metal Finishing, Wichita
• HM Dunn Aerospace, Wichita

3-3:30 p.m., June 19 – One-on-one media availability for Brownback at the Kansas Pavilion, located at Hall 3, Stand B79.
