Leanne Kehres selected as new executive director of Southeast KANSASWORKS

Jerry Atkinson, board chairman of Southeast KANSASWORKS, and Bonnie (Rob) Roberts, chairman of the Chief Elected Officials Board of Kansas Local Workforce Investment Area V, announced today the selection of Leanne Kehres (pronounced kare´-es) as the executive director of Southeast KANSASWORKS Inc. effective March 3, 2014.

A native of Parsons, Kan., Leanne has lived in Emporia, Kan. since 1988. She is married to Gerald Kehres and has two grown children Robert and Heather Kirk.

With more than 25 years of Human Resource experience at the federal and state level, Leanne’s most recent position was as the Worklife Program chief with the Veterans Administration. Leanne has served on numerous boards, most recently as the vice president of Kansas Family Partnership and as a board member for the Drug Endangered Children’s Coalition.

Leanne is a graduate of Trident University International, holding a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a human resource management concentration.

Leanne has 29 years of military service with the United States Army and the Kansas National Guard. She is currently serving with the Kansas National Guard, 35th Infantry Division with the Staff Judge Advocate as the command paralegal. Leanne holds the rank of sergeant major.

Southeast KANSASWORKS Inc. is one of five Local Areas in Kansas designated by the Governor under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA). Local Area V (LA V) is comprised of the following 17 counties in Southeast Kansas: Allen, Anderson, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Coffey, Crawford, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Linn, Lyon, Miami, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson counties. Southeast KANSASWORKS’ mission is to prepare and refer work-ready job seekers to meet the skill demands of local employers.

The Southeast KANSASWORKS One-Stop Delivery System includes three comprehensive KANSASWORKS Centers located in Emporia, Independence and Pittsburg, with outreach offices in Chanute and Paola.
